Introduction to Tiling WM’s

Whenever you start Fedora Workstation, you use a window manager. Whether you run Gnome 3 or one spins’ desktop environments: the window manager is the part of the environment that draws the application windows to the screen.

This section provides a basic introduction to what tiling window managers are, how to set them up and configure them, and best practices for their use. It’s specific goal is to provide the novice user with a basic understanding of core concepts, so that they at least have a sufficient grasp on the subject to use i3wm.
